Press Release (May 1996)
Progressive rock band Ten Ton Tide have just completed
the followup to their first CD, a 4-song
E.P. cassette titled Deluge,
featuring new singer Joe Scarangella .
Scarangella is well known in the NYC metro area as singer/bassist for the
acclaimed Rush tribute band, Power Windows. A multi-talented musician,
he plays guitar in addition to singing on the new E.P. The other members of
Ten Ton Tide are guitarist Zak Rizvi and keyboardist Dan Gibson from
Power Windows; and drummer Jim Toscano and bassist Anthony Tirado , themselves former members of the
original Power Windows
lineup.
Ten Ton Tide was founded in 1992 by former singer Dennes Cynd and
keyboardist Gibson, who were soon joined by bassist Tirado to form the
first songwriting team.
After completing recording of the CD, Mr.
Cynd quit the band and was replaced by Joe Scarangella. The new lineup
played live shows for a few months, then went back to the studio to
record this four-song E.P.
Judging by the unusual enthusiasm with which the
new material has been greeted by the band's associates, Cynd's departure
appears to have been a blessing in disguise. The band's new, live-
performance-oriented approach has brought a new kind of energy to their
music.
