Notes

In its day, when we looked forward to playing this joint as "the Ultimate Gig", this was the premier rock club on Bleecker St, home-away-from-home to many a rock-n-roll luminary. During the early to mid 90's, it was unfortunately neglected by its owners, who thought its reputation was enough to guarantee its survival, and it acquired an aura of grunginess and... well... Let's just say that the new ownership has done a terrific job of restoring the club to its former greateness. New direct boxes for the sound system. Free popcorn. Juke box. Top-shelf liquor. Etc. Right there on Bleecker Street between Thompson and LaGuardia, in Manhattan's official Party District of Greenwich Village. Always a good crowd of utterly unpredictable composition. Sometimes serious Rush fans, sometimes NYU partyers, sometimes sailors on shore leave. They come from all over the world, literally, with addresses on the mailing list from Germany, Brazil, and even California. We've had people say they came from Finland to hear us after seeing something on the Internet. Incredible. Gotta love it!

Directions

From the Holland Tunnel

Do a 180 as you bear left around the exit rotary. Take the Canal Street Eastbound exit and make your first legal left (1 block after the second light) onto West Broadway. Go five blocks, cross Houston St., and Bleecker is at the next corner. The club is half a block to your left. You can't drive that way, though. (Welcome to New York City!)

From the Lincoln Tunnel

By hook or crook, get to Seventh Ave. The even-numbered streets go in the right direction to get there from tunnel exits. Seventh Ave. will take you downtown. Go about 30 blocks, past Sheridan Square (where you have a subway entrance with newsstand on left, tobacconist on right), and make a left onto Bleecker Street. As you follow Bleecker, you are legally required to bear left by 45 degrees when you cross Sixth Ave. The club is three and a half blocks further, on your left.

From the Midtown Tunnel (Long Island Expwy)

Get going downtown; Second Ave. is a good way to do it. Go 30-40 blocks and make a right on Houston St. Go about 3/4 of a mile (it's hard to count blocks) and make a right on LaGuardia Place (which is called West Broadway on your left). Bleecker Street is at the next corner.
