these guys think they've found the secret to happiness, a threefold path. here are the conditions they say must be met for satisfaction to be possible:
- feeling you can make a difference;
- understanding what's going on around you; and
- having the chance to choose your own options.
- soft, clean sheets above 250 thread-count;
- caffeine-free diet pepsi chilled to 1° kelvin;
- pasta in embarrassing proportions;
- a good book, preferably with at least one gruesome murder in it;
- an idea of where my next vacation will be;
- appreciative (or at least dutiful) laughter at my every sally; and
- the time and ability to make things.

A Drixoral tote bag would be helpful...

Somehow, this reminds me of the BTS conversation we had driving to NJ years ago.
I'd prefer the second-to-last one as "being appreciated regularly and enthusiastically by those I'm close to" or somesuch.

your list......ditto for me...as if you didn't know that

I'll go with that list, although I'd make some adjustments (only real coke, thanks), and add: a decent haircut, all things considered, and hot coffee in the morning.

Hmmmm...I'd make the following adjustments/additions:
* Diet Pepsi Vanilla, please
* someone to wake up with every morning on those nice clean sheets (preferably one of the people I have in my life who 'regularly and enthusiastically' appreciate me)
* 24/7 maid service
