chip off the old *blargh*
just so you know, i am well aware of how gross this is.
last night at the grocery store, there was a 2-for-1 sale on potato chips. because i am the adventurous sort, i seized the opportunity to try a new flavor: lay's dill pickle. what the heck, i figured...they're free!
now, i am not one to throw away perfectly good food. but this is not perfectly good food. this is horrible, horrible food that not even the starving children in cambodia would deign to choke back.
it could be worse, though. through the magic of the internet, i have learned that it could be much worse, in fact. at least i didn't buy:
- hot dog flavored chips
- roast lamb and mint sauce flavored chips
- octopus dumpling or fried chicken cartilage flavored chips
- sour cream and clam flavored chips
i feel certain i've dodged more than one crispy, salty bullet, and gotten an invaluable learning experience to boot.

OK, I have to admit...I tried these on a 2-4-1 purchase special at Publix myself...and liked them. However, I also enjoy salt and vinegar chips and these aren't much different than those. The trick is to eat them with an opposing flavor, like a pb&j or bowl of creamy wild rice and chicken soup. Another favorite of mine are the guacamole flavored Doritos. Maybe it's my tastebuds. Maybe it's an early change of life. Maybe I need more medication.

alas, dear reader, i won't be able to try those thrilling taste combinations, as i tipped the remainder of the chips down the garbage disposal last night. they were too gross even for the compost bump.

I am afraid to say that I would probably try at least two of the four other chip varieties listed. Lamb and mint is a classic flavor, and octopus can be just yummy if it's the right octopus.
But I wouldn't like dill pickle potato chips even if they did taste like pickles.

I never ever thought I'd like parmesan and garlic potato chips (I generally don't like chips and don't like garlic anymore) - but I do.
The same company that makes this also makes dill pickle chips, which I have never tried. And also salt & vinegar chips, which are very very good.
