i am pretty sure they did this just to piss me off.
when i splurged on the 400-count sheets, i also bought a lovely new blanket. it's huge, fuzzy, a delicious cream color, 100% cotton.
imagine my annoyance when i took it off the bed to wash it and chanced to see the care instructions.
what kind of jackasses make a blanket you're not supposed to wash?
what kind of jackass buys one?
wait, don't answer that.

I hope you are taking it back...to Portugal.

ok, so you're not me, but if you were, you'd wash it anyway and then just take it back if it doesn't hold up.

Maybe you could find a nice duvet cover to hide the blanket from the dirt? Of course, then you wouldn't see the fuzzycreamy part.

more to the point, then i couldn't touch the fuzzy part. in its fuzziness, the blanket acts like a cat magnet...which is why it needed a good wash. in spots it was more cat than blanket. (incidentally, the blanket made it through the washer and dryer with flying colors.)

I'd say write the company and let them know that at first you were saddened and maddened by the thought of drycleaning, then gladdened by the way the blanket made it through the wash. Maybe you'll get something free. It never hurts to try.
