Welcome.
Take a look around. Make yourself at
home. Wipe your feet before you come in, okay?
downstairs half-bath
This really deserves its own page.
new bedroom
We renovated the bedroom to add
windows to the back wall -- before the work, it had only a sloping roof
that reduced the square footage and made the room very dark. We put a
shed dormer on the back of the house that raised the roofline and allowed
us to install a very big picture window and two sash windows. (We plan to
put a window seat in front of them.)

...because what could be better than curling up in
front of this with a book? Answer: curling up in front of this with a
book when it's cold and snowy out.

family room
General-purpose view of our
general-purpose upstairs family room. It has new carpet, a new hearth,
and new paint. We have finally exorcised the ghosts of the previous
owners' dogs...at least in this room.
paul's new office
Like the bedroom, this
room also had only a sloping ceiling. You could walk upright down the
middle of the room, but if you wanted to move to either side you'd have to
duck. No more. There are six sash windows along the back of the house,
giving a lot of light and a good view of the trees. Paul plans to build
bookcases along the remaining sloping wall.
dining room
The sideboard will get a top,
and pictures will be hung. For now, it has a clean coat of paint and a
new light fixture. They make a huge difference.

new kitchen 3
The less said about the previous kitchen, the better. We installed
the sheetrock, and Paul put in the cabinets himself. There used to be
a full wall between the staircase and the rest of the kitchen. We tore
that out and will install a banister to retain the new open feel of the
room. If you look closely, you can see part of Lunch in one of the
pics.

Here's the front -- scrappy daylilies, tangled hose, red doors, and all.

good god, julie, how can you live in such a hovel?
