Halloween and the New York City Marathon

It’s going to be a great weekend. Tomorrow is Halloween, of course, and Sunday is the Marathon. I walked home through Central Park yesterday after a meeting, and they were setting up for the marathon.

I was already feeling like it was such a perfect day, mostly because of the leaves, I think. They were everywhere, with that wonderful leaf-pile fragrance. Then when I came upon a press conference about the Marathon, I don’t know. That just put me over the top. I’ve always loved Marathons. All that energy and effort, I’ve decided that something must physically be happening to everyone who is nearby when a marathon is run. Because I get, and I think everyone gets, what feels like an endorphin rush, just by standing on the sidelines cheering.

The Tardis is Here

Obviously I need to get a better shot, but I wanted to post proof of crash. The Tardis has once again crashed into a building on Perry Street. It’s nice that the Doctor visits us every year, but what is it about Perry Street that affects his driving/piloting skills?

What is wrong with me that I can’t ever get a decent shot of this?? I’m going blame my camera. Yo, camera. Get it together. You can be replaced. Actually, wait a minute. You know I can’t afford to replace you. Oh Jesus. My camera is evil.

Halloween in the West Village 2015

I have more to come. Some of the decorations I saw will be better at night, so I’ll shoot them on Halloween. But here are some shots from a short walk I took around my neighborhood this afternoon. Thank you so much creative people!

I loved the expression on their faces. Don’t you just love the smiling one? Vomiting pumpkins is a big thing this year apparently, but the only one I came across today was old and already starting to rot so it had lost it’s great effect.

This cocooned thing was nice and creepy.

I especially loved things coming out of the ground.

And hands coming out of a planter.

I almost missed these fingers in this window box, it was so subtle. Anyway, I’ll be back with more. And hopefully, of course, the crashed Tardis on Perry Street!
