Five Days Until my Pub Date

June 28th, 2013 Posted in Uncategorized

I didn’t post yesterday because I was busy getting my heart broken by the Bumble & Bumble Model Project, except they made up for it, so I have nothing but good things to say about them. But I was hoping to have my hair cut and colored by my pub date and that’s not going to happen (the cut part is my fault, I took forever to contact the stylist).

Ohmygod!! Here is an excerpt that was just published in Fast Company. Now I’m so excited I can’t sit still! I’m going to need to be sedated before this is all over. Many times.

This is the entrance to New York Marble Cemetery. I know you’re wishing I took a picture of the inside, but there are no gravestones to see. All the graves are in a vault underground.

Try to enjoy the book buzz and let it be a source of pride. But I can imagine how nervous/excited you are.

I have never had a book published via a print publisher. I did have a few novels and short stories years ago (1998) published for the first e-book market (Palm and Rocket e-book readers). I doubt anyone remembers that early market, but my publisher, Treeless Press, had a lot of novels available. However, since it was indeed early days, they also eventually went out of business. I’ve never understood why it took so long for e-readers like Kindle, Nook, etc. to be developed and finally market e-books.

Back to your book debut, it’s always been my dream to have that experience. Also, another dream: visit NYC. I may get to see NYC sometimes in the Fall; my sister/brother-in-law are planning a trip there just for me! They have visited before, and know what sights I need to see.

Anyhow, congratulations on your book, quite an accomplishment. I know it’ll be great and get good reviews. And truly, it will be one of those books that pass down through generations of choral singers and the public curious about choirs.

A month ago, I went with my other sister/brother-in-law to a large church for a choir concert. I was stunned at the talented singers, whether solos or group. Truly inspirational!

Hang in there — and don’t forget to write about it on your blog so we can share vicariously !

    Again, congrats!

Thank you so much for encouragement. And that is so cool that you were such an early e-book adopter.

You have to look me up when you come to NYC!
