Star Wars

I’m thinking I will go next week, in the middle of the afternoon when hopefully everyone in New York City will be at work. Actually, I don’t need an empty theatre. Just a theatre empty of rude people. Mostly, seat kickers. Or the people who knock you on the head with their purses as they go in and out of their seat and then don’t say excuse me. Or the people behind you who grab your chair to help themselves up. Talkers go without saying.

Who are these people who always so tastefully decorate outside their building? Thank you whoever you are. It looks lovely and it’s a pleasure to see.

I guess they don’t use the front door much!? But you are right – it looks beautiful. I love the ornaments on the bare branches.

I love going to the movies too, but it can get so easily spoiled by self-absorbed people who are oblivious to their surroundings. The last time I went with a girlfriend, this one person fell asleep and snored! So weird. Timing is everything in protesting irritations – wait one second and you’ve lost your advantage, plus you’ve begun to stew and anything after will just come out angry. One day on the train, this guy got on and sat right beside me and commenced to sniffling in a very loud and wet way. Without hesitation, I opened my backpack and offered him kleenexes from one of those purse-packs. He was so grateful and took two and blew his nose. I learned about timing from that encounter.

Yes, so often I sit and stew. But that’s also because saying something to people rarely ends well. Your offering a Kleenex was a nice way of handling that situtation.
