Whitney Biennial

I’m going to the Biennial tonight with a bunch of friends, thanks to my neighbor Beth who gave me her ticket!! Thank you, Beth!!!

Love it or hate it, the Biennial is always entertaining. I will report back.

This is a picture of Finney curled up in my lap. I’m afraid this picture is proof positive that Finney is the cutest cat in the world (tied with Buddy). Sorry all you other cats. You’re really cute, too. But only one cat (tied with another) can be number 1.

  1. I shall have to say, Finney/Buddy are the cutest kitties… on the East Coast!!!
    hehehehe… 😛

  2. Well, I know it can be extremely dangerous to argue about cute rankings, so I won’t. But if you haven’t discovered the avante-garde feline cinema of YouTube’s Klaatu42 yet, may I recommend

Warning: the second video is possessed!!! If you watch it more than once, you will spend much of the rest of your life thinking about it and laughing at utterly inappropriate times.

We (my rescue organization, A Tail At A Time) recently pulled Rosie, a very sweet Russian blue, from the one of the NYC animal shelters. As it turned out, Rosie had a cancerous growth (now removed) which no one had detected. The vet we use, who’s really good, said that with chemo she might get another two years (she’s probably about 8 now), so she had her first treatment today. I’m told, and Buddy bears this out, that cats don’t have the same kind of unpleasant post-chemo reactions that people do. There’s actually a special fund, the Picasso Fund (no, I don’t know why it’s called that), that reimburses rescue groups for medical costs associated with animals pulled from the shelters if and only if the groups had no way of knowing up front about the problems. They’re paying for Rosie’s treatments.
