What's New?
-
New!! (06/07/01): JDK 1.4-beta Supported. NPS 2.1.5 is available
now on the source
code page.
-
Note (07/09/00): HelloWorldIDL
code example is updated to build with JDK 1.3
-
Note (07/09/00): JDK 1.3 Supported. NPS 2.1.4 is available
now on the source
code page. JDK 1.3 replaces the JavaIDL ORB with the CORBA 2.3-compliant
RMI-IIOP
ORB. There are also some notes about the new RMI-IIOP in JDK 1.3 on the
updates
page.
-
Note (06/27/00): NPS 2.1.3 is available now on the source
code page. This long-delayed update supports the use of NPS with Iona
OrbixWeb
3.0 Update 1 and Sun JDK 1.1, and adds the ability to specify inter-quote
delay time.
-
Note (01/02/99): Web site redesign! Reorganized, with navigation
bars. Also, material not directly associated with the book (the Java IDL
Library, OMG Mapping History and Analysis, and the Gallery of Noncompliance)
has been moved to a different site -- the new Java
CORBA Users' Site. Watch the Users' site for information
about new developments in the Java CORBA world.
-
Note (08/10/98): NPS 2.1.2 is available now on the source
code page. This bug fix update allows the NPS client to run on a machine
separate from the NPS servers.
-
Note (07/17/98): Sun has recently deleted from its Web site the
versions of Java IDL that are compatible with JDK 1.1. Readers who wish
to compile and run the code from this book that do not already have versions
of Java IDL 1.1 in their possession should use JDK 1.2 which includes Java
IDL as part of the standard distribution. JDK 1.2 is available through
the links on the Resources
page.
-
Note (07/17/98): JDK 1.2 Update Below are links to the programs
from the book, modified slightly to work with current JDK 1.2 beta distributions.
Older versions of the book code are still available on the code
page of this Web site.

Note: The source code extracts for the InterPoll application are
for reference only, and not intended to be compiled and executed. The code
for the HelloWorld and NPS examples are complete and may be compiled and
executed for non-commercial purposes.

New! (07/06/98) Build
and run NPS on NT using Visibroker for Java 3.2. This is one way to
still use the book code with JDK 1.1. Go ahead and use the 1.2 version
of the book code with JDK 1.1 and Visibroker for Java 3.2
