Location notes: Wonderful place to learn. Protected, shallow, onshore breezes
when I was there. Look out for cinder blocks on floor, since there are
some boats that anchor around.

Where: Manahawkin, NJ, South side of causeway island west of large bridge
span to Long Beach Island.
What: First try on my own rig! Breeze was slightly offshore, eventually
blown downwind and had Dad pick me up in little motorboat.

Location notes: Launch is convenient to parent's house -- a quick 10 minute
boat trip to the launch. However, there is a boat channel about 50 yards
out, and also to the north and south under the bridges, so there's not
a lot of margin for error.

Conditions: 7 knots, onshore
Equipment:
What: Three hour group beginner lesson from Anini Beach Windsurfing from
Keith's partner. Mostly review of what Ray taught in Islamorada, but I
got a lot of time on the water. Learned to sail downwind.
Location notes: For windsurfing launch, drive down Anini Beach road until
you see two windsurifing trucks on the right. Windsurfing is good west
of boat ramp over to point. West of point is a current, so be careful.
Also, 200 yards out is a reef. Within that area, water is calm and protected,
and often only neck deep.
