I like things to be exactly the same over and over again. -Andy Warhol By the time this article appears, I will have lost the horserace for declaring the return of the painting and for the chance to wryly mock these same declarations for their naivete (of course it's back daaaling, it never left). In a truly post-something epic manner, a string of articles in Artforum, Art in America, New York Magazine, and now the Village Voice have declared the return of a medium and decried this same declaration all in one art season. Interestingly, all these stories share one thing: that the medium seems to be their message. >
