a little glimpse of me

August 05, 2003

thanks, mom

It's a good thing I don't see that shrink anymore because, if I did, I wouldn't have anything to talk about today.

First, a couple of weeks ago, my mom emailed me from her vacation in Vancouver, which is, in and of itself, a very friendly thing to do, to ask me "Do you want anything from Lush? Well, yes, obviously, thank you very much.

Then, today, a package arrived via FedEx containing all of my favorites...

  • Potion, the yummiest-smelling body lotion ever;

  • Creamed Almond and Coconut Smoothie, a delicious cream soap for winter; and

  • not one but two containers of Ocean Salt, a totally fabulous and harsh face exfoliant, great on breakout days. Plus, it has the bonus of being very tasty if you lick your lips.

And, then, as if all that weren't enough, at the bottom of the box was this big heavy black thing that I couldn't identify immediately. Did Mom send me a new serving dish? A foot bath?? No! It was that groovy sunflower cake pan that I hadn't even told her I'd been eyeing!

And it's not even my birthday!

Again, it's the sister who sits in the wings making all this good fortune come to pass. Afterall, it was she who said, 'Mom, why don't you go to the Lush on Robeson and get Terry some things. She really likes what they have.'

And a fine sister it is! I'll bring some of this stuff when we go away in October, and you can share!
