I should have given a lecture here about Unbelievable!  Everyone who runs the Observatory has an interest in the macabre.  From their website:<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;&#8230;the space seeks to present programming inspired by the 18th century notion of \u201crational amusement\u201d and is especially interested in topics residing at the interstices of art and science, history and curiosity, magic and nature.&#8221; <\/p>\n<p>Coming up in July are a bunch of events &#8220;surveying the interstices of art and medicine, death and culture curated by Observatory\u2019s Morbid Anatomy,&#8221; and  a &#8220;Wearable Taxidermy Workshop by Beth Beverly, Rogue Taxidermist.&#8221; <\/p>\n<p>To get to the space you need to pass by the South Brooklyn Casket Company &#8230; <\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.echonyc.com\/~horn\/unbelievable\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/06\/Casket2.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/www.echonyc.com\/~horn\/unbelievable\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/06\/Casket2.jpg\" alt=\"South Brooklyn Casket Company\" title=\"Casket2\" width=\"532\" height=\"377\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-2630\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>&#8230; a few blocks later you go around a corner and through this beautiful alley.  <\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.echonyc.com\/~horn\/unbelievable\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/06\/Observatory2.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/www.echonyc.com\/~horn\/unbelievable\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/06\/Observatory2.jpg\" alt=\"Entrance to the Observatory, Gowanus, Brooklyn\" title=\"Observatory2\" width=\"532\" height=\"580\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-2631\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>This is George Hansen, who gave a marvelously entertaining and informative lecture.  George is the author of the book, <a href=\"http:\/\/www.amazon.com\/exec\/obidos\/ISBN=1401000827\/echonewyorkcitysA\n\">The Trickster and the Paranormal<\/a>.
