Born and raised in Chicago, Eric Orner now lives in West Hollywood California. His creation, "The Mostly Unfabulous Social Life of Ethan Green," debuted in 1989 and now appears in over 70 weekly gay and alternative weekly papers across the country and in Canada, Great Britain, and on the Web. "Ethan Green" has appeared in four book collections:

Orner admires the work of cartoonists Edward Gorey, Roz Chast, and Patrick Oliphant.
