So I've heard the three appetites behind all human behavior are shelter, transportation and ear candling. Once the first need is met, one can figure out how to get around the City. And the methods are many. Day and night, art cars, rolling discotheques, piano bars and living rooms on wheels roam the streets of Black Rock City and out on the open Playa, picking up and dropping off anyone who needs a lift. One night, as I was dancing at the open-air Illuminati club, a double-decker bus jammed with party flesh rolled by, with a glowing orange dome shelter protecting a band-stand third story. Of course, sometimes you need a simple ride. And Joey and Margaret preferred the Magic Carpet, which always floated around on a bed of sitar music, and bearing a hookah.
