Federal Fag

By Fred Hunter

Alex Reynolds joins his lover Peter Livesay on a trip to Los Angeles, a trip that Peter is taking to attend his high school class reunion. Feeling a bit bored and a bit rejected when Peter goes to his reunion on his own, Alex rents an X-rated video to pass the time. But Alex gets more than the expected entertainment from the film when he spots Patrick, an old college flame, in a "starring" role. Being a little bit nosy and a little bit curious, Alex decides to track down his ex-lover and find out what has led him to such a career. Alex does find him ... lying on the floor of his apartment. Dead.

After he's discovered the murdered body of his porn-star ex-lover, you would think much else could go wrong in Alex Reynold's day. But then his mother turns up at the scene, the CIA is, strangely, very interested in Patrick's murder, and Alex doesn't want to know what the LAPD thinks. Determined to find out what happened and who is responsible, Alex (dragging his lover and his mother along for the ride) must scour the strange world of the Southern California gay pornography industry, looking for clues. But, as this odd trio go looking for a murderer, they soon discover that a murderer is looking for them.

Fred Hunter is the author of Government Gay, the previous Alex Reynolds mystery, as well as the five mysteries in the "Jeremy Ransom/Emily Charters" series. He lives in Chicago. Visit his Web site or drop him a note.
